Week 14 of Practicum !!

 DAY 67 (Monday, 9th December 2024)

As for Day 67, it marked the beginning of my final week of practicum and my last Monday at the school. The day went as usual. I attended my last school assembly and relieved a class. I also took a picture of my table in the teachers' room to keep as a memory of the place where I sat for the past 3 months. And that wraps up the start of my last week at the school.

DAY 68 (Tuesday, 10th December 2024)

As for Day 68, I attended 4 Ungku Aziz to observe the students as they answered their History paper. They were so focused on their work! Afterward, I went to 4 Hamka to supervise them during the same exam. Once the time was up and I collected all the papers, the entire class asked to take a picture with me as a keepsake of our time together. I happily agreed and we took a few selfies, one with the boys and another with the girls. It was such a sweet moment! In the afternoon, we continued decorating the PPDa section for the last time. Farhan and Lili worked on a mural while I decorated the stairs with flowers and banners featuring words of encouragement. We wrapped up the decorations around 5 PM and headed home directly after that.

DAY 69 (Wednesday, 11th December 2024)

As for Day 69, it was the last day of final examinations. I attended my classes as usual and when I entered 4 Hamka, they had already finished their exam. To make use of the time, we did a quick revision of everything they had learned over the past 3 months. A few students even came to the front to share their thoughts with the class, reflecting on what they had learned. While they were presenting, I took a moment to snap a selfie with one of the students, Aqmar for memories. He is quiet but clever kid in class. Later, I headed to 4 Ungku Aziz for my next class, where we played a fun Spelling Bee activity. I gave them the word "banquet" to spell and they were so eager to try until one student finally got it right! That wrapped up my Wednesday. Since there were no co-curriculum sessions anymore, we headed home right after school ended.

DAY 70 (Thursday, 12th December 2024)

As for Day 70, it was my second last day before the end of my practicum. It was also my final class with 4 Zaaba, so we took the opportunity to capture some memories by taking a group picture in the classroom. Some of the students started crying and asked why I had to leave. I explained it to them and honestly, I felt emotional too because it was hard to say goodbye. Later, I went into 5 Hamka to relieve a class. Even though I didn’t teach them regularly but they still asked to take a group picture with me. It was touching to see how much they appreciated me being around over the past 3 months. In the afternoon, I continued decorating the stairs for the PPDa section for the very last time. While it might not have been perfect, I was proud of the effort and happy to leave something new for the school. We finished everything by 5pm and with that, the day came to an end. Just one more day left, see you tomorrow for my last day!

DAY 71 (Friday, 13th December 2024)

As for Day 71, it was my last day at SK Polis Depot as a practical English teacher. I can't believe that I finally made it here after all the challenges that I’ve faced since I arrived. I almost shed tears due to happiness and sadness. Early in the morning, I had my last Yassin recitation at school and after finishing it, our farewell event started. There were four seats and decorations on the stage prepared for us to celebrate. We were so touched to be appreciated like this. Then, I gave a speech as my last appearance at school and I thanked everyone at school for the opportunity they gave me. I also asked for forgiveness from all the teachers and kids in case I ever made any mistakes toward them. After that, we had a gift-giving session and I couldn’t believe that almost half of the kids gave presents to all four of us. I received a lot of gifts, but I’ve lost count of how many I received. I felt on top of the world that day because I never imagined receiving so much love. But it didn’t stop there! When I came to my class, 4 Ungku Aziz for the last time. I was shocked that they had prepared a surprise for me! I couldn’t believe that 10-year-old kids were able to plan everything and put so much effort into something so great just to celebrate me. When I stepped into their class, suddenly a confetti popper went off and they surprised me with a ribbon to cut. Then, I walked through the aisle they made by lining up until I reached the end and received a bouquet of flowers. I immediately felt like crying because I never expected this kind of surprise from them. I thanked each of them for their effort and we took a lot of pictures together as it was my very last time meeting them. Before the class ended, the boys hugged me and cried. I told them not to be sad as I would always remember them and promised to come again if I had the time. And that wraps up my journey as an English practical teacher at the school.

A big thanks to Madam Dalila, my supervisor and anyone else who found my blog and read it until the end of my practical journey. For me, it was a bittersweet memory that I could never have imagined experiencing and here I am having lived through it. That’s all from me. Sir Naim, signing off.
