Week 1 of Practicum !!

Hello and welcome to my Blogspot dear reader, my name is Muhammad Faris Naim bin Khairol Azmi. I'm 20 years old this year and currently pursuing Diploma in Teaching English as a Second Language at University Poly-Tech Malaysia, Cheras, Kuala Lumpur. I'm now on my 6th semester out of 7 and the subject that I'm taking for this semester is TCH3047 Teaching Practice. And guess what ? I'm going to be a practical teacher !! As for my school I got SK Polis Depot at Semarak which is 10km away from my current rented house. Luckily my friends Farhan & Lily got the same school as me so we could go to school together. 

DAY 1 (Monday, 9th September 2024)

 As for my first day, I would say it was very tiring, but I really enjoyed it. I woke up at 5 a.m. and got ready to go to school. We started our journey to school at 6:10 a.m. and arrived at 6:30 a.m. We waited until 7 a.m. and reported to the office, where we met all the staff and administrators. There was an assembly that morning, as it was Monday, and we were introduced to the students and teachers during Puan Azizah’s speech. We also visited the school canteen for the first time, where I bought nasi lemak with a fried egg and fried chicken. The price was so reasonable, which made me happy to be here. The weather was really great too! That day, I also met my Year 4 students for the first time. They were very kind and active, which made me feel appreciated there. Before going home, we had a short meeting and took a picture together with the administrators.

DAY 2 (Tuesday, 10th September 2024)

As for my second day, not much happened, as everything went smoothly from morning onward. We attended the assembly and had breakfast, then I went to my class. The highlight of the day was that Farhan, Lily, and I wore matching outfits, and the administrators praised us for having a theme that made us look more lively at school.

Day 3 (Wednesday, 11th September 2024)

As for my third day, we arrived at school at 6:40 a.m. and I took a picture of the beautiful sunrise from the corridor of my school building. We also had breakfast, which Ustazah Faridah brought for us. She brought curry chicken feet with Indian bread, and it was so delicious that I really enjoyed the food she shared. During my class, I took 4 Ungku Aziz to the library for the first time. Some of them were not behaving, so I asked the class representative to jot down their names. Later, I had my first co-curricular session with them and joined the Tunas Kadet Remaja Sekolah club for the uniform unit. Before going home, we had a meeting about the upcoming English Week. That’s all for my third day.

Day 4 (Thursday, 12th September 2024)

As for my fourth day, I had a lot of classes including a relief class. It was my first time going into 3 Ungku Aziz for relief because I don’t teach them. The class was so loud and difficult to handle, which made me feel dizzy that day, but something happened that made me happy. A student named Qaisara from that class showed me her drawing and I was so surprised that it was a picture of me! I took a photo of the drawing and thanked her for it. It was my first time receiving a drawing of myself by a Year 3 student. Other than that, everything went smoothly and that was all for the day.

Day 5 (Friday, 13th September 2024)

As for my fifth day, it was finally Friday and I couldn't wait for the upcoming school holiday next week. That morning, we went down to the main school hall at 7:30 a.m. for Yassin recitation with all the students and the ustaz. Then, at 8 a.m. we went to the school canteen for breakfast. I had fried kuey teow with a fried egg and it was very delicious. Before heading home, we had our lunch and ate white rice with chicken rendang brought by Ustazah Faridah. That wraps up my first week as a practical teacher.
