Week 3 of Practicum !!

 DAY 11 (Monday, 23rd September 2024)

As for Day 11, after a week of school holiday and now the 3rd week of my practicum has finally begun. The week kicked off with a ceremony to launch the Healthy Food Campaign. A stunning poster banner, designed by my friend Lili, was the centrepiece, and I had the chance to assist her in setting it up for the event.The highlight of the ceremony was the appearance of a Mickey Mouse mascot, which had me feeling incredibly excited. I couldn’t miss the opportunity to snap a photo with the mascot, joined by my friend Lili and my colleague Kak Farah. It was truly a memorable day and a unique experience for me as a practical teacher.

DAY 12 (Tuesday, 24th September 2024)

As for Day 12, I started my Tuesday morning with a breathtaking sunrise view at school. Before heading to class, I had breakfast first, enjoying Nasi Lemak with Fried Egg and Ayam Gunting from the school canteen. The food there is not only delicious but also very affordable. Later in the day, I had a relief session with the preschool class. I handed out coloring sheets to the 6 year old kids and they were so happy because they really love coloring activities. In the afternoon, after the school session ended I attended a meeting with the English panel teachers. And that was my day at school, simple yet filled with meaningful experiences.

DAY 13 (Wednesday, 25th September 2024)

As for Day 13, I started my morning with an early breakfast. I had Fried Macaroni with Minced Beef and Beef Tauhu Bergedil prepared by Ustazah Faridah or known as Kak Fary. She’s incredibly kind to me and my friends as she often shares her delicious homemade food with us. At 9 am, my class was canceled due to an event involving the Year 4 students, so I spent the day attending the event alongside the kids. In the afternoon, it was the co-curricular session, and this week focused on clubs and associations. My club, Rakan Media held its activities in the library. Cikgu Ain, one of the teacher in the club taught the students how to edit posters using Canva and demonstrate it with an example poster about Maulidur Rasul. After the co-curricular session, I enjoyed a chocolate ice pop with my friends, Farhan and Lili. I can't believe that Lili treated us, which made me so happy that I even took a selfie before heading home. It was such a lovely day!

DAY 14 (Thursday, 26th September 2024)

As for Day 14, there was a Maulidur Rasul celebration at my school. Teachers were encouraged to wear Islamic attire to honor the special occasion. My friend Farhan and I both wore Baju Melayu that day. The celebration began early in the morning and lasted until noon, featuring several activities for the kids to participate in. I thoroughly enjoyed the day especially since there were no classes at all and I managed to take a few pictures to cherish it as memories.

DAY 15 (Friday, 27th September 2024)

As for Day 15, the day went by as usual but the highlight was I finally received my first printed class timetable to place on my desk in the teacher's room. Before heading home, I took a selfie with my friend as we coincidentally wore matching coloured outfits for the day. However, it was a bit disappointing to realise that it wasn’t the last day of school for the week as we have to come in tomorrow on Saturday for an event Kem Bestari Solat. DAY 16 (Saturday, 28th September 2024)

As for Day 16, we arrived at school by 7 am and started the Kem Bestari Solat session at 8 am. It was my first time teaching Year 1 students and I was a bit nervous at first but I quickly got comfortable. I had to teach them the recitations for prayer and surprisingly they understood me very well and were able to memorise it in no time. The session finished by noon and all the students from Year 1 to Year 6 gathered to perform the Zohor prayer together. It was a chance for them to practice what they had learned earlier. After the prayer, the event ended and the teachers were free to go home. That’s the end of my Week 3, I’ll see you in Week 4!
