Week 12 of Practicum !!
DAY 57 (Monday, 25th November 2024)
As for Day 57, I started my Week 12 at school as usual. The highlight of the day was when I relieved a Year 2 class, 2 Ungku Aziz. At first, I wasn’t sure what activity to do but then I remembered that kids love to draw. So, I asked them to draw their dream house. One of the students drew a tree house, which I found quite creative and imaginative. For me, it was an outside-the-box idea because dreaming of a tree house reflects the magical and whimsical world of a child’s imagination. I was truly amazed by her drawing. The rest of my day went as usual, and that’s all for the beginning of Week 12!
As for Day 58, nothing much happened that day and it was just like any other day. I had a few classes and also relieved a class. During my free time in the teacher's room, I took the opportunity to complete my lesson plan for the week. Oh, and that’s what my table looks like! It’s quite simple since I’m only here for 3 months, so I didn’t decorate it like the other permanent teachers. And that’s all for my Tuesday journal!
As for Day 59, a firefighter came to my school for a fire drill training. It’s an annual event at the school and we were lucky to witness it. The firefighters parked their truck on the school grounds, allowing all the kids and teachers to explore it inside and out. I even took a picture with the truck! The firefighters also demonstrated the correct way to extinguish a fire, which was very educational for everyone. In the afternoon, we didn’t have a co-curricular session since everything for the year had already been completed. Instead, the school held a cleanup event involving all the kids and teachers. We wrapped up the day at 2pm.
As for Day 60, I wore a red Batik shirt because every Thursday, teachers are required to wear Batik. That day, I entered 4 Zaaba and taught them how to write an email. While I was checking one of the girl's emails, she asked for permission to take a selfie using my phone. I allowed her and that’s the picture haha! I also took a mirror selfie as an outfit check. Later, I had a relief class with 2 Ungku Aziz again and this time, I played Simon Says with them. The most interesting part was when I said, "Simon Says, make a train" and all the kids immediately understood my instructions and lined up. Believe it or not, I was the happiest one at that moment because it reminded me of my own childhood. I even joined them and became part of the train haha! And that’s all for my Thursday.
As for Day 61, the highlight of the day was at noon. We had a farewell event for all the teachers who are being transferred to other schools, including the practical teachers. Each teacher brought a variety of food, and I thoroughly enjoyed everything. And that’s all for my Week 12!
