Week 9 of Practicum !!

 DAY 41 (Monday, 4th November 2024

As for Day 41, it was the beginning of Week 9 after having a few days’ break from school. The day went as usual, but the highlight was the launching ceremony of STEM Week that morning during the school assembly. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. The gimmick for the launching ceremony was a flying hot-air balloon with the words "Pelancaran Minggu STEM"written on it. All the kids were amazed as they watched the balloon take off. After that, classes went on as usual, and that’s it for today.

DAY 42 (Tuesday, 5th November 2024)

As for Day 42, I started my day by enjoying a beautiful sunrise view from my house. I went to school a bit late that day, so I was able to watch the sunrise there. At school, the day went as usual, and nothing much happened. It was kind of a boring day compared to the others, so I don’t have much to say. However, I did take a selfie for an outfit check, and that’s it for my second day of Week 9.

DAY 43 (Wednesday, 6th November 2024)

As for Day 43, it was quite an adventurous day for me because the Year 4 kids didn’t have any regular classes. Instead, they participated in a STEM programme where they had to build and launch water rockets. Each class was divided into several groups, and the group whose rocket flew the highest would be the winner. I accompanied them in the school hall and observed as they worked on building their rockets. Some groups were really good at it, while others struggled a bit. Still, I was amazed by their efforts after all they are just 10 years old and capable of creating something like that! When everything was ready, it was time to launch the rockets. All the kids went to the open space to fly them. Some rockets couldn’t launch due to mistakes in their construction but the rest soared high into the sky. I felt so happy and proud watching them work together and achieve this. That’s all for today!

DAY 44 (Thursday, 7th November 2024)

As for Day 44, the highlight of the day was working on the PPDa decorations. All the practicum teachers were in charge of decorating the PPDa area. Our leader was Cikgu Nazif, who is the secretary of the PPDa organisation. PPDa stands for Pendidikan Pencegahan Dadah or Anti-Drugs Education. We decorated the board with several banners filled with words of encouragement. It took us hours to clean and decorate the area, but it was worth the effort! And that’s all for my Thursday story!

DAY 45 (Friday, 8th November 2024)

As for Day 45, my Friday went as usual but the highlight was editing a poster for Entrepreneurship Day at our school. This event involves all the Year 6 students and there will be many activities happening on that day. Teachers are also participating by opening stalls and selling food to the pupils. I’m really excited for this event to take place! And that’s all for my Friday, see you tomorrow for my camping story!

DAY 46 (Saturday, 9th November 2024)

As for Day 46, we went to the campsite at 3 PM as we were the teachers in charge at that time. It was quite challenging to reach the campsite because a normal car couldn’t get there. Instead, we had to take a ride in a 4x4 vehicle provided by the campsite owner as a shuttle. There were many activities for the kids to enjoy such as archery, kayaking, and more. Some teachers brought their fishing rods and fished at the nearby lake. It’s quite an interesting place for camping, especially with family because the surroundings were so beautiful. However, the downside was the poor network connection and it was very difficult to access. In case of an emergency, no ambulance could reach the site as it was located at a high altitude. We returned home at 6 PM after observing the kids having fun. Before leaving, we also enjoyed some food. And that’s all for Week 9!
